The Gastein Valley is a wonderful place to ski. The lift takes you up to 2,600 meters above sea level, making Gastein one of the most snow-sure ski regions in Austria. And the slopes of the legendary Graukogel are reserved for ski tourers.

But even without alpine skiing, Gastein is a real winter hit. The cross-country trails in Sportgastein, the Angertal valley, or in the spa gardens in the middle of Hofgastein are wonderfully groomed. Tobogganing, ice skating, horse-drawn sleigh rides—it's all possible. We particularly love the numerous opportunities for walks through the winter landscape – with or without snowshoes. And the torchlight hikes. And the moonlight dinners in the snow.

Connoisseurs especially enjoy checking into the Hotel BLÜ. In the middle of the pedestrian zone on Kaiser Franz Platz in Hofgastein, they meet like-minded people to blossom. The contemporary Hotel BLÜ is full of good vibes. Cheerful interiors, modern art, and unusual details characterize the hotel. The casual home base for all adventures in the valley is relaxed and uncomplicated, just as the freedom-loving vacationer's soul desires.

At HimmelBLÜ, with the most beautiful view of the Gastein mountains, you can get close to heaven – whether doing yoga, in the sauna, or ice bathing on the roof garden. Sit in the 90°C sauna and soak up the view of the Graukogel and the power of the Gastein Valley, or sweat it out at 50°C in the bio sauna, then explore your own mental strength in the ice bath on the roof garden. And then relax in the warmth with a view of the Schlossalm. Or simply take an afternoon nap in one of the cozy corners or loosen up your muscles with soothing massages after winter sports. Whatever you like.

Culinary blossoming

Open-minded connoisseurs have long since fallen in love with the culinary delights of BLÜ. Food and drink are given great attention at BLÜ. Eva Eder – herself a well-traveled aficionado when it comes to delicacies from around the world – brings the best from near and far into the house. It is world cuisine that chef Marcus Langhammer cooks in the spirit of a modern, sustainable food culture. Guests enjoy typical dishes from Tel Aviv, New York, Vienna, and Bangkok, as well as from Morocco, Italy, and the Salzburg region. All ingredients are responsibly sourced and of the highest quality.

Après-ski in style & a hotel bar for all occasions

The BLÜ Bar is a meeting place for locals and guests alike. Right on Kaiser-Franz-Platz, you can enjoy a quick espresso from the Viennese roastery Röstraum or a delicious glass of apricot juice from the Malat winery, a small beer from a local brewery, or a perfectly balanced drink while listening to live music, DJ sets, or enjoying après-ski in style. There's room for everything at the BLÜ Bar.

Art, literature, and jazz at Blü

On the walls throughout the building, guests will find pictures by artists from all over the world. Curated by designer Josephine Wagner (formerly Galerie Raum mit Licht Vienna), exciting works blossom. A walk through the hotel becomes a visit to an art gallery.

Hostess Eva Eder has been an avid reader since her youth, and her books have also moved into Blü. On the first floor of the main building, a library has been created as a cozy retreat, full of books, magazines, art, and with a view of Kaiser Franz Platz. Those who prefer to write themselves can take a seat at the desk in the adjoining writing room.

Renowned jazz promoter Sepp Grabmayer from Sägewerk Gastein curates the regular concerts at Blü: the Blü Bar is the perfect place to groove and swing.

Dog Love

Dogs are not only allowed at Hotel BLÜ, they are expressly welcome and well cared for. After all, Poldi, a mixed-breed dog rescued from starvation, is the real boss at BLÜ. Gastein is generally a great location for dogs; our four-legged friends love to play in the snow, and the wonderful winter hiking trails invite you to take long walks.
