The photogenic Kaltwassersee lake is no longer an insider tip; thanks to its panoramic location, it has long since become one of the most popular excursion destinations and photo motifs in the region.
The impressive storage lake is located just a few hundred meters below the middle station of the Rosshütte cable car and is therefore easily accessible. Although swimming is not permitted here, sunbathing and relaxing on the benches along the lake is an absolute must. When the surrounding mountain peaks of the Karwendel are reflected in the crystal-clear lake and the Hochegg Alm is waiting just a few meters away with a wonderfully cold refreshment, you have already found the perfect vacation moment.
In winter, the water from the reservoir is used to supply the snow cannons in the ski area. Even in the cold season, the lake offers an extraordinary photo opportunity right next to the ski slope.
