What to do on holidays?

A few ideas...

The Somadida Forest ... the call of the bush
At Palus San Marco, between Auronzo di Cadore and Misurina, and surrounded by Crystal Mountain (Monte Cristallo), the Three Peaks of Lavaredo (Tre Cime di Lavaredo) and Mt. Sorapiss, the Somadida Forest is the ideal place to experience the nature of the woodland. You can also fly with fantasy in this area so rich with forest and fantastic characters that have lived here since time began. Not only is this the largest forest of the Cadore region, it is also one of the most beautiful forests of the entire Alps.

Traces of the Past ... the Great War
Mt. Piana (Monte Piana) is a mountain rich with history. However, amongst all the adventures it has witnessed prevails the one linked to the Great War and its deep wounds. The Outdoor History Museum of Mt. Piana tries to keep alive the memory of that period. To get to the museum, a shuttle-bus is available, departing from Misurina to the mountain hut Bosi (Rifugio Bosi), or there is not-too demanding walk of around an hour and a half. Trenches, walkways and lines marked by barbed wire help recreate the events of the past.

Nordic Walking ... we walk for better living
Nordic walking is an easy and healthy sport to do in the open air. It combines the positive aspects of sport with relaxation and fun. Immersed in nature, you walk with the aid of specially-designed poles, simulating the alternating stepping-action of cross-country skiing.

The Cadore region is the ideal place to explore whilst Nordic Walking.

Thanks to instructors qualified at the Italian School of Nordic Walking, you can immerse yourself in nature on fascinating trips discovering the Dolomitic landscapes of Auronzo di Cadore. It is possible to take a group course, single lessons and organised outings, during which the walking poles will be provided. We recommend you dress comfortably, as for sports, with gym shoes being the appropriate footwear.

Trekking … at the face of the Three Peaks
More than 200 kms of marked trails that will take you to unspoiled nature and welcoming mountain huts (rifugi) and panorama unique in the world.

Not to be missed is a trip to the celebrated Three Peaks of Lavaredo (Tre Cime di Lavaredo), which are also able to be reached by motor car.

Cadore ... the kingdom of water
Why not try something different? A tour of discovery of the lakes of the Cadore region. One of the most spectacular sights is the beauty of the Dolomites reflecting on the mirrors of water that reign in these quiet places.

The Lake of Auronzo: a reservoir formed after the construction of a dam in the 1930s...it is the “sea” of Auronzo di Cadore.

Lake Misurina: wrapped in the charms of its legends, and surrounded by the majesty of the Dolomites.

Lake Antorno: a short walk from the Three Peaks of Lavaredo (Tre Cime di Lavaredo), a small mirror of water immersed in an uncontaminated landscape that in winter becomes truly enchanted.

The Lake of Central Cadore: accompanying all the villages of this valley and the point of departure for many hikes.
