Cat, goat and castle island tour 6km, Kajaani Finland

After your start from the kajak pier at Kesäniemi swimming beach you keep right following upstream under the bridges. You will pass Petäisenniska marina on the right hand side.  Be aware of boat traffic from and to Kajaani. 

Paddle close to the shore of Petäisenniska. Here you will find also a fire place. Make your way to the island of Linnasaari (castle island) that you can circel either on the north or south side. 

From here follow the shore of the island Pukkisaari (goat island) on its sothern side until you come to the pathway between the two islands. 

Paddle through the natual canal in order to get to the north side of Pukkisaari island. Follow the opposite shoreline back. You will  get past the red Kuurna boat house on your right. After a bit more than 500 meters you turn right underneath the car and railway bridge. Here the hunger canal starts! 

At the end of the canal you paddel towards the island Kissasaari (cat island). Circle it on its northern side and you come back to your starting place. Be aware of the swimmers and jumpers of Kesäniemi beach with its jumping tower. 

Kuljettavissa rannan tuntumassa kanootilla, kajakilla ja soutuveneellä. Reitillä on monin paikoin matalaa kauas rannasta.

Drive to the starting point via Petäisenniska, street Pajakatu. The other direction is for residents only. 

The starting point is where Onnelantie becomes Pajakatu. On the right side you will find a huge parking place. 

The coordinates of the starting point are: 64.224025, 27.766189 . Here you find a kajak pier.
