Set against the stunning backdrop of the turquoise Lake Achensee and framed by the peaks of the Rofan and Karwendel mountain ranges, the Achensee Run is considered one of the most scenic running events in Austria. On Sunday, 6 September 2026, this popular race around Tirol’s largest lake will take place for the 26th time. The 23-kilometre course circles Lake Achensee and even exceeds the distance of a traditional half marathon.
The course can be completed either individually or as a relay team. The longer leg (14.5 kilometres) follows a flat gravel and tarmac route, while the shorter distance (8.5 kilometres) includes 208 metres of elevation gain. On the same day, a 14.5-kilometre fitness run and children's races over distances ranging from 0.4 to 2.6 kilometres will also take place.
Approximately 1,500 runners are expected to take part in the mass start around Tirol’s largest lake.
