Welcome to the Halterhütte at Fanningberg in Lungau

High up at 1,850 meters above sea level, where the air becomes crisp and the everyday world is left far below in the valley, the Halterhütte, also known as the “Hoitahüttl,” awaits you: an entire holiday home all to yourself, nestled in the mountain landscape of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Salzburger Lungau.

From the very moment you arrive, you can feel it: time moves differently up here. Located directly on Fanningberg, next to the traditional and serviced mountain hut Zirmbar, the chalet stands as a peaceful retreat between ski slopes and panoramic views.

In winter, it is something of an insider tip for skiers: the slope runs right past the front door. No shuttle, no waiting, just step outside, strap on your skis, and your first descent begins right next to the house. The days end the same way they begin: right in the snow, right in the experience.

Inside, a completely different atmosphere awaits. On around 140 m², a spacious yet wonderfully cozy holiday home unfolds. A large, fully equipped kitchen invites you to cook and enjoy meals together, featuring everything you need: stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine, and more. Next to it, a large round dining area becomes the heart of the house, where conversations often last longer than the evenings themselves.

A traditional tiled stove crackles softly, filling the living space with warmth and comfort. It is the kind of place where you sit together while snow falls outside or the wind moves across the slopes, and quickly realize how enough it is to simply be.

With three separate bedrooms, the Halterhütte / “Hoitahüttl” offers space for up to 10 guests, making it ideal for families or groups of friends who want to spend time together while still enjoying their own space. Three double beds, additional sofa beds, a spacious bathroom with shower and double wash, and a separate toilet provide comfort in the middle of the mountains. Towels and bed linen are prepared for you, and the terrace awaits bright mornings and long summer evenings.

When summer arrives, the other side of the mountain reveals itself: hiking trails start right at your doorstep, alpine meadows open wide and quiet, and instead of ski tracks, hiking boots now draw their paths through the landscape.

A place that is not just accommodation, but a true piece of mountain life.
