Winter hike Wildhaus – Oberdorf

Start at the bottom station Thur Wildhaus or, if arriving by car, directly at the Munzenriet parking lot. Follow the winter hiking trail over Kollersweid towards Rosswald. The route constantly ascends and leads in a clockwise arc to the Oberdorf mountain inn. From there, you can take the chairlift back to the starting point.

Day hiking backpack (approx. 20 liters) with rain cover, comfortable and waterproof winter shoes or sturdy hiking boots, possibly crampons and gaiters, warm and weatherproof clothing in a layered system, hat/headband, scarf, gloves, sun and rain protection, provisions and drinking water, thermos with hot beverage, first aid kit, pocket knife, mobile phone, possibly headlamp, maps, possibly telescopic poles.

Partially signposted, trails are easily recognizable in the terrain but not always officially marked – pay attention to the route in the snow.
Good physical condition required, surface can be hard or slippery depending on weather conditions.
Sturdy, secure footwear recommended, wear crampons in case of ice.
Respect wildlife resting and protected areas, avoid noise, keep dogs on a leash in forest/alpine areas.
Always consider avalanche conditions in winter, especially after fresh snow or snowdrift.

By train to Nesslau-Neu St. Johann or Buchs SG, then by post bus to the stop "Wildhaus Lisighaus." The starting point is less than 10 minutes on foot.

There are paid parking spaces at the large Munzenriet parking lot.
