St. Kathrein am Hauenstein lies in the heart of Peter Rosegger's Waldheimat, one of the most extensive forest areas in Central Europe. It was here that the poet spent his childhood as a forest farmer's son and completed his apprenticeship as a tailor. The Rosegger exhibition in St. Kathrein clearly expresses the writer's profound relationship with the place and its inhabitants. Visitors can follow in Rosegger's footsteps on a hike through the charming landscape along the Christmettenweg trail.
