From Ailingen town hall, walk past the Ailingen church, the half-timbered house of the old vicarage and the Wellenfreibad ("wave open-air swimming pool") in the direction of Ittenhausen. Cross the Rotach bridge to reach the Ittenhausen mill with its restored, historic mill building. After crossing the concrete factory yard, the trail continues on quiet romantic forest paths - following the Rotach - past more former mill buildings and an old weir. On the banks of the river, there are always larger gravel banks that are ideal for a rest. Finally, after you leave the forest near the Weilermühle mill, the trail leads past extensive paddocks and orchards, through Unterlottenweiler, until you finally ascend the Horach in a short section of forest. At 501 m, this is Friedrichshafen's highest point with a magnificent view of Ailingen, the town and beyond. You will then reach the Haldenberg Chapel via meadow and field paths. As the highlight of the hike, this favourite place of many Ailingen residents offers a comprehensive lake and alpine panorama and an opportunity to pause and marvel.
