Der Antholzersee

At the far end of the Valle Anterselva / Antholzertal Valley, in the middle of the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina / Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park, lies the bluish-green, romantic Lago di Anterselva / Antholzer See lake. A newly established nature experience path around the 44 hectare (109 acre) lake, which is up to 35 m (115 ft.) deep, takes about one hour to circle. The lake is the third largest in South Tyrol-Südtirol. Numerous hospitality establishments offer the perfect invitation to stop in for a refreshing drink or a bite to eat. On top of that, the Lago d’Anterselva is the ideal starting point for a variety of longer hikes and mountain tours, such as to the Malga Steinzger-Steinzgeralm, Passo Stalle-Staller Sattel, Croda Rossa-Rotwand, Hinterbergkofel, Almerhorn, Barmerhütte and others.

This nature path was opened in 2003 and informs very clearly about the flora and fauna of the region surrounding Lake Anterselva. We learn a lot about the forces of nature, the most important rocks and trees - this is a very interesting round tour both for children and adults.
