Four days after the last obstacles were put in, a crew of 8 snowboarders and freeskiers made their way to the Snowpark Schöneben to put the final setup to the test. Our media crew was on site, of course, to record the spectacle from above and on the ground. In addition, the following lines will offer you some backstage insight into the events.

It is around 9:30am and the thermometer shows -14°C, as the crew arrives at the top station of the gondola. They ride over to the Fraiten chairlift, where they are greeted by a friendly lift worker, who is yet unaware that he is going to see those faces a lot more this day. From the lift, the guys are able to cast a first glance at the park, which makes them forget the cold as well as any remaining fatigue. They immediately know: Today is going to be a good day!

It has been snowing again last night and the whole resort is coated by 10 centimeters of fresh snow. But the Shapecrew Schöneben, led by Parkdesigner Oriol Rosell, got up early and prepared everything neatly. The Snowpark Schöneben looks perfect after the reshape!
Topping off the conditions after the first practice runs, the sun forces its way through the clouds and shows up on point. The session may begin with the snowboarders, represented by the Mösl brothers, Benny and Dani, Angelo Gastl and David Loibl. The Germans Jörg Angeli and Jona Zimmermann as well as the local riders Michael Plattner and Manuel Pleifer constitute the freeski crew. Thus, it is a mix of highly talented riders, here to show off their entire skill repertoire. This view put a big smile on our filmer Balint Hambalko's face: "Shooting with so many good and motivated riders is simply fun! They push themselves hard to land their most difficult tricks. David Loibl is giving his comeback this season after being out for two seasons of injuries, and he just landed a Switch Backside 720 on his first try!" Balint is highly pleased with the snowpark too: "The park is great. Its length gives the riders a lot of time between obstacles to focus again before every hit. Also, the chairlift takes you up super fast, so you can make plenty of runs."
And so the friendly lift worker gets to see the boys time and again, while they hit the kickers at first, throw in some jibs in between and finally end the session on the kickers again. At the end of the day, freeskier Jörg Angeli is very happy with the session: "The obstacles vary a lot und offer enough diversity for a long day on the mountain. Overall, the park has a great flow. Perfect for taking many hot laps." His buddy and DFriends crewmate Jona Zimmermann agrees and adds: "The park has abeautiful location. You can shred in sunlight until in the afternoon. Moreover, there are only a few parks, where you can combine jibs and kickers in one line as well as here!"

After the shooting the friends also agree on their highlights of the day: "I think the highlight of the day were the drone shots. They offer a completely new perspective, which is not that common in park shootings. Aerial shots are very special.", says Jörg and Jona has just one little thing to add: "...but of course, the best thing was being able to shred with the homies!"
There is nothing more to say. You can find the spectacular aerial shots of the drone and the best tricks of this fine session in the freeski and snowboard edits, as well in the photo galleries. Check them out and enjoy!
