Station de ski Sappada
In winter Sappada is covered by a white mantle of snow, which makes the place very well and attractiv for skiers.
The offer for the lovers of winter sports include a total of 20 kilometers of ski runs of varying difficulty for all skiers and snowboarders, from the slopes for children and beginners to the slopes with higher difficulty.
There are three resorts (Eiben, Sappada 2000 and Monte Siera) and numerous ski lifts. All slopes are easily accessible from the town and for the owner of the ski pass there is a free ski bus, which travels to the various entrances of the lifts.
Cross-country skiers can carry a total distance of 15/20 km to their sport. In addition to trails through the woods, there are also special classes for beginners around. The on-site cross-country stadium also found in sporting events to an international standard. Some champions of this discipline as Silvio Fauner, Pietro Piller Cottrer from the sports group Camosci and Maurilio De Zolt are born and raised in Sappada. In the discipline of snowboarding, the location can be proud on the brothers Filippo and Giacomo Kratter: Giacomo was a hair fourth at the Olympics in Salt Lake City in the halfpipe.
Besides skiing, there are numerous winter sports; you can on three natural ice skating rinks, which are located at three different places in the city, or visit the amusement park Nevelandia.
Snowmobile riding is also offered, which can be run on a practice course or be rented for longer trips. There are also frozen waterfalls, ice climbing where you can.
All this is complemented by many services and events: the ski school (Scuola Sci Sappada), the sporting material, the numerous events, such as The ski show or carnival.
