A snowpark of the highest order, top-notch riders, only the weather didn’t play along too well – still, the participants of this year’s QParks Tour Stop at the Turracher Höhe proved themselves as proper Nock’n’Rockers. Despite the cloudy weather they came up with plenty of gnarly runs.

Currently, the contest season’s in full swing - we’ve just reached the half time of the QParks Tour! Last Saturday the fifth stop took place at the Turracher Höhe, the ski resort located at the border between Styria and Carinthia. Unfortunately, the bluebird day everybody was hoping for was hiding behind a thick wall of clouds. For true shred heads that’s no reason to stay at home and chill, though. Besides, park designer Hilton Scott and his crew did an amazing job on the setup and provided the riders with a perfectly shaped contest line. It kicks off with an 8m down rail, followed by the jump line, which consisted of a total of 6 kickers: 3m and 5m at the first knuckle, 5m and 8m at the second knuckle and 7m and 10m at the third. At the end of the line, the riders had the choice between a challenging 18m Multi Industry Rail and a Lollipop Jib.

Riders from 5 Nations were pulling off their best moves in order to bag the coveted tour points, the cash prize of a total of 1.200€ and lots of cool goodies by Goodies von AMPLIFI, Pinetime Clothing, QParks and WeAre.

The Riders Delivered Top Performances
Snowboarders from five nations were unleashing their best moves to get their hands on points for the World Snowboard Tour, the World Rookie Rank, the Austria Cup Tour and, of course, the QParks Snowboard Tour. The first place in the men’s category went to Felix Widnig (AUT), followed by Jakob Reitinger (AUT) and Henrik Meyn (NLD) on 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.

Widnig won over the judges Andy Lehmann and Lars Österle with a Switch Boardslide Sex change on the Downrail, a Frontside 360 Melon over the first kicker, a Backside 540 Tailgrab over the second kicker, a Cab 720 Stalefish over the third kicker and a Cab 180 to 50-50 to Backside 360 out. Henrik Meyn grabbed the best trick award thanks to his “outstanding rail performance” as head judge Andy Lehmann pointed out enthusiastically. Meyn managed to land some gnarly tricks on the Downrail and the Multi Industry Rail, including a switch Backside 180/ 50-50/ 180 out.

With the girls, it was Johanna Sternat (AUT) who climbed the top of the podium. She was joined by Ronja Hänsel (AUT) and Romy Van Vreden (NLD). Sternat stomped a 50-50/Noseslide on the Downrail, a Backside 360 over the first kicker, a Backside Air over the second, an Indy Air over the third kicker and a Frontside 180 butter/BS 180 on the Lollipop Jib.

First place in the Groms Men category went to Jan Vogrin (SVN) from Slovenia. His fellow countryman Bono Kralj Kos (SVN) bagged the second place, while the bronze medal went to Anej Herzenjak (AUT). Ronja Hänsel (AUT) managed to win over the judges in the Groms Women competition, places 2 and 3 went to the Dutch “shred masters“ Romy Van Vreden (NLD) and Demy Janssen (NLD).
