No one knows the construction better than its architect! That’s exactly the reason why the crew members themselves have put the Snowpark Turracher Höhe to the test in the brand-new setup checkout clip. It’s high time to look behind the scenes and gain some insight on the crew and their work. What’s it like to work at the Snowpark Turracher Höhe? What are the major challenges? These are just two of the questions we asked park designer Hilton Scott and shaper Klára Chovancová.

“Turracher Höhe is a special place”. That’s how Klára appropriately sums up the two huge park areas, the long lines, which consist of up to 20 obstacles, the 9-headed team and the park’s very own PistenBullys, in one sentence. Hence, the special characteristics of the park are quite obvious, as is the fact that keeping a park this size in good shape takes tons of hard work. “Efficiency and communication are two of the most important aspects and, at the same time, the biggest challenges,” Hilton, who is currently recovering from an injured shoulder, says.

Since the beginning of this season, the New Zealander has been in charge of the Corinthian Snowpark together with the headshaper Josua Hein. He’s totally satisfied with the progress so far. After a stressful December, the setup’s finished by now, all thanks to the smoothly operating team, “We’re a strong team and we get along very well.” Klára, one of the two female shapers of the crew, definitely agrees with Hilton, “The atmosphere between the shapers couldn’t be better. We live next to each other, we shred together and we’ve become very good friends.” Especially now, that Hilton has to take some time off due to his injury, it’s important that each crew member gives 100%. Still, Hilton’s been struck the hardest, “Obviously, the worst part is that I can’t go snowboarding at the moment. I’m looking forward to a magical March, though!” Hopefully he’ll be fully recovered by then, to take care of the quality and the security at the park – his main duty besides the maintenance of the two big areas.
Until then, the team’s got a lot of work to do, like building the contest setup for this year’s NockˈnˈRock, which takes place on February 11, or the maintaining the other facilities at the Turracher Höhe… Take Klára for example, she isn’t just shaper at the park, but also project manager at the Kidsslope. “When I got the offer to become project manager at Turracher Höhe, I was really excited. It takes way more responsibility and I’m able to work more independently, which is just perfect…” and also an important step for her career within the QParks Shape Academy supported by PistenBully. “It’s my dream to become park designer at a girly park,” the 26-yearl-old from Czech Republic says, “I’d like to reach a position that requires even more responsibility.”

For now, Klára is totally satisfied with her job at the Snowpark Turracher Höhe, though. She’s getting along with the boys very well too, even though, it can be a bit complicated every now and then, “Sometimes men think differently than women, but I’ve gotten used to that after two seasons of being surrounded just by boys. I’m really glad, that with Sandra, there’s another girl on the team now, though. We hang out together in the mountains all the time.” Hilton also thinks that a mixed crew is a cool thing, “The girls often add a different perspective and different skills to the team. When we all work together, we get amazing results.” These amazing results become more than obvious, when you take a look at the setup of the Snowpark Turracher Höhe.
